Henman wins 'Battle of Britain'

Britain's Tim Henman has reached the semi-finals of the Australian Hardcourt Championship after beating fellow Briton Greg Rusedski in straight sets. In a clash dubbed the 'Battle of Britain', top seed Henman defeated big-serving Rusedski 6-4 6-4 to leave their head-to-head record 4-2 in Henman's favour.

"It was really tough. It was always going to be difficult playing Greg, he's been serving really well again," said 27-year-old Henman. "I was really pleased with the way I played. I was able to return well, and some of the times when he was at the net I hit some good passing shots." Henman will now face Spain's Alberto Martin in the semi-final after he defeated Swedish third seed Thomas Enqvist 3-6 6-4 6-3.

In the women's tournament, Venus Williams and Justine Henin will meet in tomorrow's final. American Williams had a 7-6 6-5 lead over Nadia Petrova before the Russian was forced to retire due to a shoulder injury. Henin defeated Czech Daja Bedanova 6-2 6-2.
