US tennis star Jennifer Capriati has been named Reuters Sportswoman of the Year. Capriati made 2001 her remarkable comeback year when she won the Australian and French Opens and claimed the world number one ranking in October. She ends the year as the International Tennis Federation’s world champion.
Capriati beat fellow Americans Venus Williams and Marion Jones in a poll of 40 sports editors and journalists in 31 countries.
