Venus finishes as top earner

Wimbledon and US Open champion Venus Williams has finished the year as top earner on the WTA prizemoney earners' list with more than $2.5m. Her younger sister Serena came in third with a little over $2m. World number one Lindsay Davenport had to be content with fourth place, while Jennifer Capriati's remarkable comeback was confirmed with her finishing as the second highest money earner.

The surprise package on the list was 13th-ranked Rennae Stubbs. The Australian earned all her $686,554 by playing doubles and mixed doubles.
