Belgium's Kim Clijsters and Magdalena Maleeva of Bulgaria will meet in the final of the Sparkassen Cup indoor event in Leipzig, after both players came through tough three-set semi-finals. Top seed and defending champion Clijsters beat Russia's Elena Dementieva 6-1 3-6 6-1, while Maleeva rallied from a set down to beat Nathalie Tauziat of France 4-6 6-4 6-3.
In the WTA Wismilak International event in Bali, eighth seed Joannette Kruger beat top seed Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario 6-2 4-6 6-3 in the semi-final. Kruger will face Angelique Widjaja in the final, after the Indonesian beat Chinese qualifier Su-Wei Hsieh 6-4 4-6 7-6.
