Henman eases past Schalken in French Open

Eleventh seed Tim Henman crushed Dutchman Sjeng Schalken 6-4 6-2 6-2 today to move into the third round of the French Open at Roland Garros. The British number one, who has never been beyond the third round on the Roland Garros clay, was untroubled by the tall world number 31 on Court Two.

The 26-year-old Henman squandered a 3-0 lead before recovering to take the first set, and he never looked in trouble after that as Schalken's serve consistently faltered.

Henman, who is on course for a fourth-round clash with Australian sixth seed Lleyton Hewitt, will face Spain's Alberto Martin or Guillermo Canas of Argentina in the third round. (Reuters)
