Dokic fast out of the blocks

Number 15 seed Jelena Dokic began her French Open campaign with a 6-0 6-0 victory over Adriana Gersi on Monday.

The Yugoslav took just 38 minutes to book her place in the second round at the expense of the unseeded Gersi, who made 29 unforced errors in the match. Dokic, who won the Italian Open in Rome, had too much power and finesse for her Czech opponent and will next play American Marissa Irvin or Amanda Hopmans of the Netherlands.
