Tennis: Rusedski’s winning streak continues

Greg Rusedski's winning streak continued when he cruised to a straight sets victory over Taylor Dent in the first round of the ATP Citrix Championships at Delray Beach, Florida. Only two days after winning the Sybase Open in California, the British number two beat Dent 6-2 6-2.

“I'm really pleased to win today. I'm feeling really good,” Rusedski said in an interview with PA. “I think I only missed one backhand pass. Someone's going to have to serve really well to beat me. It proves to me and the other players that I'm back. I'm happy and enjoying my tennis. I'm not feeling that much pressure because I know I'm doing all the hard work.”

Second seed Nicolas Lapentti of Ecuador needed only 47 minutes to score a 6-1 6-1 win against Spain's Galo Blanco, while number three seed Carlos Moya of Spain eliminated defending champion Stefan Koubek of Austria 6-4 6-4. (PA)
