Name: Michaela Corcoran
Event: Canoe Slalom (C1)
Age: 21
Michaela Corcoran will become the third Olympian in her family, after her father Mike represented Ireland in Barcelona in 1992 and Atlanta in 1996. Twin sister Madison has also been selected in the K1 Kayak and they are one of three sibling Paris competing at the Olympic Games in Paris for Ireland.
Michaela is older by one minute and prefers the single-paddle canoeing discipline.
Qualification for the canoe athlete was through a late quota reallocation spot. Corcoran debuted for Ireland at the 2021 Europeans and has been a regular semi-finalist at age-group European and World Championships. She came particularly close to making the final of the World Under-23 Slalom Championships in Liptovsky, Slovakia earlier this month, where she finished 14th overall.
