Abigail, 'Abi', Lyle from Down will be taking to her first Olympics in the individual dressage event aboard Giraldo a.k.a. 'Arty'.
Lyle is currently based in Somerset and has competed for Ireland at the European and World Championships. She doesn't come from an equine background and persuaded her parents to buy her a horse after completing her GCSE examinations.
This year Lyle won the CD13* Freestyle at Addington and made the Freestyle finals at two CD14* events in Le Mans and Hagen.
The Bangor woman is the highest-ranked Irish dressage competitor after bursting on to the scene in 2022, competing in the World Championships in Denmark and later at the London Excel Grand Prix when she scored 72.25% in the Freestyle for a top 10 finish, something she matched in December 2023.
