Hendrick's coach Eoin Rheinisch was the last K1M representative for Ireland in London in 2012 and went along to watch him competing.
Along with twin brother Robert, Hendrick was fourth in a C2 double at the 2015 World Junior Championships but both flourished individually and Robert just missed out on the Paris Games after losing to Liam Jegou in the Irish trials.
Hendrick has a degree in software engineering from Maynooth University and a masters in artificial intelligence from DCU. He spent a year training full-time in Pau, France in 2021 but is now based in Ireland between extensive travelling for training and competition.
