Name: Madison Corcoran
Event: Kayak (K1)
Age: 21
Madison Corcoran will become the second Olympian in her family, after her father Mike represented Ireland in Barcelona in 1992 and Atlanta in 1996. Twin sister Michaela will also compete at the games in the canoe slalom event after a late change in the quota.
Corcoran was 34th when she made her Irish debut at the 2021 Europeans, finished 33rd a year later and was 52nd at the 2023 World Championships.
Corcoran qualified in a quota spot after a countback at the European Games in 2023 to secure a European continental spot. Corcoran finished 23rd in the event itself. This marks the first time an Irishwoman has qualified in canoe since Hannah Craig in 2012.
