Before turning to cycling full-time in 2018, Kelly Murphy completed a PhD in neuroscience. Murphy finished sixth in the individual pursuit at the European Championships last year, while she also has four national time trial titles to her name.
The women's team pursuit in Paris will make history as it is the first time a squad have qualified in the event for Ireland - ranking sixth at the end of the qualification period in April. The team opened their season finishing fourth in the UEC European Track Championships in January and claimed silver in the UCI Nations Cup in Hong Kong in March.
