Johnny McKee is one of two Banbridge men that have been named on the Paris squad. McKee has 102 caps to his name and hails from Newry in County Down. He made his debut in 2015 and scored the winning goal against host nation Poland in the 2021 EuroHockey Championship, where Ireland claimed bronze. McKee also had a stint at with leading Bundesliga club Crefelder HTC in 2020 and 2021.
McKee has been a regular for Ireland since his debut and has scored 43 goals to date. Younger sister Katie was vying for a place on the women's side that failed to qualify for Paris.
Ireland clinched qualification in Valencia in January this year when they defeated Korea 4-3 in their final match. The hockey squad narrowly missed out on a spot in Tokyo and were last in action at the Games in Rio 2016, where they had one win over Canada and finished 10th overall.
