Name: Nicola Tuthill
Event: Athletics - Hammer
Age: 20
Nicola Tuthill has been one of the brightest stars of Irish throwing since being a somewhat surprise finalist in the World Juniors in Colombia in 2022. Since then she has gone on to represent Ireland at her first senior international in the European Games, finishing second in the division and throw over 70 metres.
The Bandon woman made the final of the European Championships in Rome this year, finishing 9th, which is the highest ever placing at the championships for a woman in the throws events. Upon her qualification via the quota system to the Paris Games she becomes only the third Irish woman to compete in a throws event at the Olympic Games.
Her father Norman built a cage on the family's dairy farm in Bandon, to allow his daughter to travel less for training sessions. She is the youngest member of the athletics team.
