Vicky Elmes Kinlan was part of the squad that made history with a first ever series win in Perth at the start of this year. The Wicklow woman had her best series to date in the SVNS Series in Vancouver in February making five starts and scoring three tries.
The Rathnew native made her debut for the side in 2022 and plays club rugby at Wicklow RFC, she is one of a trio of Wicklow players on the squad heading to Paris.
Elmes Kinlan has scored 60 points in her 62 World Series games to date since making her debut in Langford in 2022.
The team qualified in May 2023 with a 10-5 win over Fiji in the fifth-place semi-final of the World Rugby Sevens Series. Qualifying for an Olympics has been a long fought battle for the women's side, narrowly missing out on qualification in the last two Olympic cycles.
The sevens side won their first world tournament at the SVNS Series Cup in Perth in January of this year which bodes well for momentum going into the Olympic Games. The side finished sixth at the SVNS Grand Final in Madrid in June.
