Kilcock native Eve Higgins began her rugby journey playing with the boys team at Barnhill RFC in Leixlip until Under-13 level, when she joined the Railway Union league side. She was only 16 when first recruited to the Irish Sevens and XVs squads and has 14 Six Nations caps (and eight tries), she is one of three of the sevens squad who doubled up this year.

In 2018 aged 18, Higgins made her senior debut at the Dubai sevens event. Along with six other of her sevens team-mates, Higgins made her 15s debut in the 2021 Six Nations.

The sevens side won their first world tournament at the SVNS Series Cup in Perth in January of this year which bodes well for momentum going into the Olympic Games. The side finished sixth at the SVNS Grand Final in Madrid in June.
