Megan Burns of Tullamore debuted for Ireland sevens in 2018 having previously played XVs rugby for Blackrock College RFC in the AIL. The Offaly native started her career at Tullamore RFC at Under-15 level before moving to Leinster at U18s. Burns says that being coached by current Irish captain Lucy Rock in an Irish U18 team was hugely influential. She was part of the squad for the 2022 World Cup sevens squad.
Burns won the Irish Sevens Player of the year award in 2024 and has already played 137 games on the World Series where she has scored 95 points. Burns is a physiotherapist who juggles work with her rugby commitments.
