Andrew Smith was among the more high-profile selections for the Olympic sevens team and one of two picked from XVs province squads. Smith joined Connacht from the sevens side in 2023, racking up seven appearances for the province. He was also part of the Leinster Academy, making his debut in 2021 he has spent time bouncing between the XVs and sevens codes for the majority of his career.
He was part of the team that secured Ireland's place in Paris by winning the inaugural European Games title in Poland last June, but had since gone on to play XVs for Connacht.
Smith was part of the squad that won bronze at the Sevens World Cup before returning to VXs rugby.
