Name: Zac Ward

Event: Sevens rugby

Age: 25

Zac Ward was called up to the senior sevens squad in 2021 for the World Seven Series event in Dubai.

The Down native has scored 25 tries this season, second behind Terry Kennedy, and is the only Ulsterman on the squad.

Ward was selected by his peers as player of the year and was picked for the 'Dream Team' at the LA leg of the World Series in April after Ireland took bronze to win back-to-back medals on the tour for the first time. He has racked up 205 points and 125 tries in 90 games

Ward is the son of New-Zealand born, former international Andy, who claimed 28 senior caps for Ireland in his career. He was part of the side that won the 1998–99 Heineken Cup, the year Zac was born. Younger brother Bryn played in the back row for the Under-20 side in the Six Nations earlier this year.
