Name: Nathan Timoney

Event: Rowing - men's pair

Age: 23

Ten months out from the Paris Games, Nathan Timoney and Ross Corrigan secured the Irish boat by making the final of the World Championships, where they went on to win bronze in the final.

This was the first first ever heavyweight medal for Ireland. There has been some shuffling of roles and boats in the men's team when the men's heavyweight four finished 10th at the European's in April 2023, with Corrigan and Timoney given the opportunity in the pair event.

In their only international competition this year the Fermanagh duo failed to make the 'A' final of the first World Cup in April, eventually finishing first in the 'B' final.

Like his boat mate, both came through the GAA with Timoney a keen hurler for Fermanagh in his youth.

Timoney studies business management at Queen's University in Belfast.
