He again ran under the standard and broke his own national record three days later in Finland. This came 10 days after the Donegal man bowed out of the heats in the European Championships in Rome.
English has claimed bronze twice in the 2022 and 2014 European Athletic Championships and holds silver and bronze medals from the European indoors in 2015 and 2019 respectively. He progressed to the semi-finals in the men's 800m in Rio in 2016 and failed to progress from the heats in Tokyo.
