Name: Aifric Keogh
Event: Rowing - women's four
Galway native Aifric Keogh is a food microbiology graduate of UCC and a member of the Cork college's rowing club.
Keogh is part of the 'women’s four’ team, one of six Irish boats to qualify for the games. The quartet left it late, winning the final Olympic qualifying regatta in Lucerne last month.
This will be the first time the event has been on the Olympic schedule since 1992, it was dropped from Atlanta ’96 and subsequent events to accommodate more lightweight categories.
Keogh and her team-mates Emily Hegarty, Eimear Lambe and Fiona Murtagh won bronze at last year’s European championships and silver this year.
Keogh was also a finalist in the women’s pair at the 2018 World Rowing Championships with current team-mate Emily Hegarty.
