Kelly is a former Leinster player, who switched to sevens and made his World Series debut in London in 2019.
A St Michael's College graduate, he spent two years of his early life in France and speaks fluent French which may be advantageous in the French capital. Kelly captained the Ireland Under-20s in 2017 from full-back but now scrums down for the sevens. Kelly has contributed to 22 matches in the 2023/24 season.
He has a law degree from Trinity College, for whom he also played with in the AIL. Kelly is a trainee solicitor with McCann Fitzgerald. He is also fluent in French as his family lived there for two years in his youth.
