The Sligo woman made history in 2017 when she became the first Irish swimmer to win gold at the World Junior Swimming Championships.

McSharry is an Irish senior record holder in the 50m, 100m, 200m breaststroke and 50m butterfly events. Most recently breaking her own 200m breaststroke record in Vancouver in June.

In Tokyo McSharry made the final of the 100m breaststroke, becoming only the second Irish swimmer ever to do so. McSharry has also finished fifth in the World Championships three times, the Grange native will be looking to go two better in Paris.

The Ballyshannon Marlins product qualified from the University of Tennessee in May with a degree in Kinesiology.
