Philip Doyle (L) and Daire Lynch

Name: Philip Doyle

Event: Rowing - men's double scull

Age: 31

Something of a latecomer to the sport, Doyle has certainly made his mark since entering the fray in 2014 while studying medicine at Queens University.

Doyle, competing with Daire Lynch, made an impressive return to competition following injury winning the final World Cup before Paris in June, this came after missing the World Cup II due to injury.

In Tokyo Doyle was paired with Ronan Byrne, the duo failed to make the 'A' final and had to settle for fourth place in the 'B' final, placing them 10th overall.

He first competed at the World Championships in 2018 and a year later won a silver medal alongside Ronan Byrne in the double sculls at the staging in Linz, Austria. Doyle has been sculling with Lynch since 2023.
