European Gold medallist Thomas Barr will become a three-time Olympian if he is chosen as part of the mixed 4x400m squad in Paris. This is likely given Barr's blistering 44.90 third leg run as part of the European medal-winning feat in May.
The Waterford native just missed out on qualification in his primary event the 400m hurdles. Barr's personal best time in the event of 47.97 came from his fantastic fourth-place finish in Rio in 2016.
Barr had a positive spell of racing over the hurdles after the European Championships recording his fastest time since the semi-finals in Toyko, but it was just short of being enough to qualify.
Barr is joined at the Games by his partner Kelly McGrory, who is selected in the women's and mixed 4x400m squads.
