Pennsylvania-born Ryan is heading for his third Olympic Games having competed in Rio and Tokyo, he qualifies through his father who is from Portalington.
Ryan, who qualifies to represent Ireland through his Laois-born father, will swim in the first men's medley relay at an Olympic Games after he swam the qualifying time in the 50m freestyle outside of Swim Ireland's qualification window.
In 2018 Ryan claimed a bronze at the World Championships in the 50m backstroke.
