Danielle Hill

Name: Danielle Hill

Event: 100m backstroke, 50m freestyle, 4x100m women's medley and freestyle relays

Age: 24

Larne swimmer Danielle Hill is Ireland's fastest ever female swimmer thanks to her time of 24.68 in the 50m freestyle, which she set in the Olympic trials at the National Aquatic Centre in May. In the same meet Hill broke her own 100m backstroke record, becoming the first Irish woman to swim sub 60 seconds and took over a second off her previous best.

In the European Championships in June, Hill claimed two medals. The Larne woman was the first Irish gold medallist in the championships in 27-years when she won the 50m backstroke, an event that isn't contested at the Olympics. She then went on to claim silver in the 100m backstroke, which is the event she will contest in Paris.

Hill was a Commonwealth Games finalist in 2018 despite dislocating her shoulder in training and finished 25th in and 33rd in the 100m backstroke and 50m freestyle heats respectively in her Olympic debut in Tokyo.
