One of the longest-serving members of the High Performance Unit, the Mullingar man has been involved in the programme for over 14 years at various age categories. Many feel he suffered at the hands of questionable officiating in both the Beijing and London qualifiers, so making the team for Rio through the qualifiers at Turkey this year is a richly deserved award. David Oliver is a first cousin of Joe Ward who will also represented Team Ireland in Rio.
