This is Scott’s third Olympics and the 28-year-old from Dundrum rose to 23rd in the world during the qualification period which began in May 2015. He bowed out in London in the first round to Lin Dan, arguably the greatest player to play the game. Evans has missed the last three National Championships through injury but has eight in total, 2005-2012, and has prepared for Rio in training caps in Dublin, London and Paris.
