Ireland names team for Para Swimming World Series

Nine swimmers will compete for Ireland across four days of competition at the upcoming Para Swimming World Series event in Barcelona, Spain.

The World Series provides an important international racing opportunity for Irish athletes as they continue to test themselves against strong international fields.

The Irish team travelling to Barcelona includes Róisín Ní Riain, Dearbhaile Brady, Barry McClements, Luke Brennan, Ellie Lynch, Luke O'Donoghue, Maya Hogan, Sam Black and Deaten Registe.

Competition begins on Thursday 19 March with Irish swimmers scheduled to compete in the 100m Freestyle. Ní Riain, Brady, McClements, Brennan, Lynch, O’Donoghue, Hogan and Black are all listed for the event, while Brady will also compete in the 50m Butterfly.

On Friday, Black and Registe are entered in the 200m Freestyle. Ireland will also be represented in the 100m Breaststroke by Ní Riain, Brady, Registe, Brennan, Hogan, O’Donoghue and Black. Brady is also scheduled to compete in the 50m Backstroke.

Saturday 21 March will see Ní Riain and Brennan race in the 400m Freestyle, while McClements, Lynch, O’Donoghue, Hogan and Black are due to compete in the 100m Backstroke. Brennan is also entered in the 50m Breaststroke.

The final day of competition is on Sunday. Ní Riain, McClements, Registe, Brennan and Black are scheduled for the 100m Butterfly.

In the 200m Individual Medley, Ireland will be represented by Ní Riain, Registe, Lynch, Hogan and Black. Ní Riain, Brady, Brennan, Lynch and O’Donoghue are also entered in the 50m Freestyle, while Ireland is expected to field a team in the Mixed 4x100m Freestyle Relay, with athletes to be confirmed.
