Wiffen and Walshe in medals at Euro short course champs

Daniel Wiffen and Ellen Walsh were back in the medals at the European Short Course Swimming Championships in Lublin today.

Wiffen has claimed a bronze medal in the Men's 800m freestyle while Walshe nicked silver in the Women's 200m Individual Medley.

Wiffen had an up and down race by his standards, dropping to sixth position at one point before rallying to grab second spot before fading in the closing stages.

This is the third medal the Armagh man has collected at the championships having taken silver in the 400m earlier in the week and grabbing gold in his specialist 1500m on Friday.

The 800m was won by Zalan Sarkany of Hungary in a time of 7:26.84 with Belgium's Lucas Henveaux in the silver position in 7:28.03 while Wiffen swam 7:30.14 to round out the podium.

Walshe swam 2:04.78 behind gold medal winner Marrit Steenbergen of the Netherlands. Israel's Anastasia Gorbenko claimed bronze in 2:05.32.
