Róisín Ní Riain makes it a hat-trick at World Championships

Róisín Ní Ríaín notched her third podium finish

Róisín Ní Riain has made it a hat-trick of medals at the World Para Swimming Championships by claiming silver in the 100m backstroke S13 final.

Ní Riain swam 1:06.26 which saw her edged out for gold my American Gia Pergolini who clocked 1:05.49 with Carlotta Gilli of Italy about a second and a half back in the bronze medal position.

The Limerick woman had already pocketed a bronze medal in the S13 100m butterfly on Sunday on the opening day of the Games then followed it up with a silver-medal swim in the SB13 100m breaststroke.

Pergolini is the current world record holder in this division. Ní Riain managed to get within three-quarters of a second of the eventual winner with Gilli a well beaten third.
