Róisín Ní Riain has claimed her second medal of the 2025 World Para Swimming Championships with silver in the SB13 100m breaststroke final in Singapore.
Ni Riain, swimming in lane three, reached the wall in third place behind Olivia Chambers, of the United States and Spain's Marian Polo Lopez.
But the Limerick woman upped the ante in the second half of the race to move into second place and she hit the wall behind Chambers in a time of 1:18.78, just over 1.4 seconds behind the American.
"I knew it was going to be a close race coming in and I had to play to my strengths," she said afterwards.
"I'm pretty pleased with that swim. This event has been a bit up and down this season but to be able to come out and put my best swim together when it matters in a close race is great."
Belarusian Anastasiya Zudzilava, swimming under the NPA flag, was third.
The double Paralympic medallist won bronze in the S13 100m event yesterday.
The remaining three members of the Para swimming squad (Deaten Registe, Dearbhaile Brady and Barry McClements) will begin their campaigns tomorrow.
