Róisín Ní Ríain, Ellen Keane and Nicole Turner all secured silver medals at the European Para Swimming Championships in Madeira on Saturday evening.

Ní Ríain earned her fifth medal of the championships as she came second in the 200m individual medley final, with a time of 2:31.60.

The Limerick teenager had already won two golds, in the 100m backstroke and 100m breaststroke, as well as silver and bronze in the 100m butterfly and 400m freestyle.

"It was a long week but some good racing, loads of things to take away over the next couple of months so that's definitely a positive," said Ní Ríain afterwards.

In her final European Championships, Keane won silver in her 100m breaststroke final with a time of 1:24:19

A Paralympic gold medalist in the event at Tokyo 2020, Keane was fastest in her heat in a time of 1:25.09 on Saturday morning.

"I think I gave it my all there, I don't think I held anything back," said Keane after her final.

Turner and Dearbhaile Brady finished out the week for Ireland in the 50m butterfly final. Brady was unlucky to miss out on her second medal of the championship, finishing a close fourth to Maisie Summers-Newton.

Turner claimed the silver spot, her third medal of the championships.

Speaking after her final, Turner said: "I guess you could call us the Silver Sisters at this stage! I'm really happy with that, I’m pretty sure it’s a season best for me."
