Irish divers Clare Cryan, Ciara McGing and Jake Passmore will have Olympic qualification on their minds at the World Aquatics World Championships which get under way in Doha this weekend.
It marks the final attempt for the trio to achieve their place as part of Team Ireland for the Paris Games.
A team of 13 swimmers, including Daniel Wiffen and Mona McSharry who have already achieved Olympic qualification, will also be competing. Ellen Walshe, who has opted not to compete in Doha, is also qualified.
For the swimmers, the championships in Doha is the penultimate occasion to secure qualification times before a final Olympic trials in Dublin in May.
The diving team is led through the experience of Cryan, who narrowly missed qualifying for Paris by only eight points last time of asking in Fukuoka.
Alongside McGing and the exciting young prospect Passmore, tickets to Paris are the primary focus for all three of the diving team where divers will need to secure a final place (top 12) to ensure they have a place on Team Ireland come July.
McGing will be the first diver in action when she takes to the platform (10M) on Sunday, where 46 competitors will contest the preliminary round of five dives, with the top 18 divers progressing to the semi-final on Monday.
The top 12 from the semi-final will then advance to Monday afternoon’s final, securing Paris 2024 places in the process.
