Nicole Turner won her second bronze medal of the week in the S6 50m freestyle at the World Para Swimming European Open Championships in Madeira.

Turner finished with a time of 35.56 seconds, smashing her own personal best in the event. The Laois swimmer battled for third place with Eleanor Robinson from Team GB, who finished 2.87 seconds behind the Irish swimming superstar.

The S6 50m freestyle is not one of Turner's regular events, however, she showed her true class and character to get the medal, showing she can compete for podium finishes in multiple disciplines.

She will return to action on Friday evening in the 100m backstroke, followed by her main event, the 50m butterfly, which will take place on Saturday at 6.20pm.
