Brendan Hyland clocked a new Irish senior record in the semi-final of the 200m Butterfly at the European Championships in Glasgow.
Hyland swam an impressive 1.57.28 to finish in fifth place in the first semi-final, after placing eighth out of 16 after the heats in a time of 1:57.55, which was just outside his Irish record.
The Tallaght native eclipsed the record with his semi-final performance, leaving him in 10th place overall.

Meanwhile, Mona McSharry improved on her time to finish in 14th place in the semi-finals of the 100m Breaststroke Semi-Final.
McSharry swam a time of 1:08.30 after previously clocking 1:08.53 to book her spot in the semis, finishing in joint 15th place out of 16.
