Fiona Doyle swam 2:29.77 to finish 29th of 50 overall in the 200m breaststroke at the World Championships in Kazan this morning.

The time was two seconds outside the Limerick woman's Irish record. She swims again in the 50m breaststroke heats on Saturday.

The 23-year-old went close to her Irish record in Monday's 100m breaststroke semi-final, just missing out on a place in the final in 20th.

Doyle qualified for next year's Rio Olympics  in the 100m breastroke by earning bronze at the World University Games in South Korea last month and followed that up by earning silver in the 50m breaststroke at the same event.
