Aisling Cooney set a new Irish junior and senior 100m backstroke record in the British Youth and Open Swimming Championships in Sheffield, England today.
Cooney posted a time of 1:03.99 to finish fifth in the final and break the senior record of Melanie Nocher.
There were also six personal best times set by Irish male swimmers. Ryan Harrison (City of Derry), Seamus Stacey (Coolmine) and Conor Leaney (Larne) were among those to set PBs.
The competition finishes up tomorrow.
