Olympic multi-medallist Michael Phelps will face trial on December 29 after being charged with drink driving.

Phelps, who won six gold medals in Athens, was arrested on November 4.

He has also been charged with driving while impaired, violation of a licence restriction and failure to obey a stop sign.

The trial will take place in a district court in Maryland, USA.
