Ireland's Andrew Bree finished second in the final of the 200m Breastroke at the European Short Course Championships at the National Aquatic Centre in Abbotstown, west Dublin today.
The Ulsterman's time of 2:08.02 knocked 1.58 seconds off the Irish record, which Bree had earlier set in his morning heat.
Britain's Ian Edmond set a new European record of 2:05.63 to win gold. Holland's Thijs Valkengoed took the bronze, 0.28 seconds behind Bree.
Bree becomes the only Irish swimmer ever to win a European Short Course Championship medal.
