Andrew Bree broke the Irish 50 metres breastroke record in this morning's heats at the European Short Course Swimming Championships at Abbotstown, west Dublin. 23-year-old Bree's time of 27.91 seconds was also enough to qualify him for this afternoon's semi-final.
There was major disappointment for Ireland's Emma Robinson who failed to make the semi-finals of the 100m breastroke.
Stephen Manley broke his own Irish record in the heats of the men's 100m individual medley, registering 56.79 seconds – not good enough for qualification to the semis.
The Irish women's medley relay squad also set a new Irish record, but narrowly missed out on a place in the last eight.
