Ireland's top swimmer Andrew Bree has fractured his ankle in a fall near his American Univercity in Tennessee.
Bree, who finished fourth in the 200 metres Breastroke at the recent European Championships, opted to have surgery on the injury rather than have it placed in a cast.
It comes at a bad time for Bree as it curtails the build up to the world championships in Barcelona in August and the Europeans in Dublin next December.
