Kellegher fails to make final

Ireland's Lee Kellegher failed to advance to the final of the women's 100 metres butterfly at the European Short Course swimming championships in Belgium. The Sundays Well swimmer was placed 11th in a personal best time of 60.68 seconds.

Earlier, Donal O'Neill just missed becoming the first Irish swimmer to break two minutes for the 200m fly when he broke the Irish record in two minutes 00.04 seconds and he was placed 17th overall. Michael Williamson failed to emerge from the heats of the men’s 50-metre breaststroke.

Meanwhile, Peter Mankoc of Slovenia broke the men's 100 metres medley world record with a time of 52.63 seconds surpassing the old record of 52.79 held by Neil Walker of the United States.
