Geoff Huegill of Australia broke the men's 50 metres butterfly short-course world record with a time of 22.84 seconds at the World Cup meeting in Melbourne today. Huegill beat the previous world record of 22.87 set by Britain's Mark Foster in Sheffield in January this year.
