Liverpool have sacked manager Arne Slot following two years in the role after the club fell short in their Premier League title defence.
The Reds will now begin their search for a third manager in nearly 11 years.
Here are some of the early contenders.
Andoni Iraola

The 43-year-old Spaniard is the clear favourite for the job after turning Bournemouth into a Premier League force. He announced in April that he would leave the Cherries at the end of the season and signed off in style by delivering Europa League football for the first time in their history. The former Spain defender had previously won promotion to LaLiga with his former club Rayo Vallecano.
Luis Enrique

Former Barcelona and Spain boss Enrique is a serial major trophy winner. The 56-year-old steered Barca to LaLiga and Champions League double in 2015 before transforming Paris St Germain into the best team in Europe. He has also won three successive Ligue 1 crowns with the French club and should PSG successfully defend their Champions League crown he could be ready for a new challenge.
Oliver Glasner

The 51-year-old Austrian is another free agent having announced in January that he would be leaving Crystal Palace at the end of the season. Glasner also bowed out in style after working wonders at Selhurst Park. The former Eintracht Frankfurt boss led Palace to their first major trophy when they lifted the FA Cup last season and he signed off by guiding them to Conference League glory this week for their first European trophy.
Sebastian Hoeness

Should the Anfield hierarchy want another German head coach following the success under Jurgen Klopp, Stuttgart's 44-year-old Hoeness, the nephew of Germany great Uli Hoeness, could be the answer. He led Bayern Munich II to the Bundesliga 3 title in 2020 before galvanising his current club, who he transformed from top-flight relegation battlers into a Champions League side and DFB-Pokal winners in 2025.
Steven Gerrard

Liverpool icon Gerrard would be a risky choice given his disappointing spell in charge of Aston Villa, but he is revered by the Anfield club’s fanbase. The 46-year-old also led Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title in 2021 without losing a league match and has since gained further managerial experience following a stint in charge of Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq, who he left by mutual consent in early 2025.
