Lily Agg has been confirmed as the new manager of Athlone Town after signing a two-and-a-half year contract with the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division side.
Athlone have operating without a permanent head coach since John Sullivan's shock departure in March after the opening game of the season.
The 32-year-old is currently in the early stages of recovering from a ruptured Achilles, a devastating blow which had followed shortly after her return from an ACL injury.
The 2023 World Cup squad member was released by Birmingham City earlier this month and has now taken her first step into management.
"I'm beyond excited to be joining Athlone," she said. "From the very first conversations with Steven Gray (CEO) and Brian Shelly (Technical Director) I was so impressed with the club’s ambitions and can’t wait to join this incredible team."
The 22-cap international takes over a side that were knocked off the top of the table following a 2-1 defeat to Galway United on Saturday.
