Lionel Messi suffered an injury scare ahead of the World Cup as he left Inter Miami's 6-4 win over Philadelphia Union with an apparent hamstring injury.

Having set up two of Miami’s four first-half goals, Messi reached for his leg in the 73rd minute after taking a free-kick.

The 38-year-old was replaced by Matteo Silvetti and headed straight down the tunnel without assistance from medical staff.

Argentina start the defence of their World Cup crown against Algeria in just over three weeks on 16 June.
