Waterford will be looking for a belated new manager bounce when they host Derry City tonight.
Last week, the Blues snatched the lead at St Patrick's Athletic in Graham Coughlan's first match in charge since succeeding Jon Daly.
But everything unravelled for the side cut adrift at the bottom of the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division as St Pat's put them to the sword by a 4-1 margin.
Seven days on, Dubliner Coughlan will take charge of his first home match at the RSC against a Derry side that are also coming off the back of a defeat.
Waterford's plight is more acute though and Coughlan had been somewhat damning about the efforts from some his players last week.
In the build-up to tonight though, he has struck a slightly more upbeat tone. "The players have worked their socks off this week in fairness to them," he said.
"It's been a high-intensity week with everyone fighting for their shirt on Friday and fighting to rectify the situation that we’re in. The lads are trying their hardest, and we’re looking forward to getting a good couple weeks work into them and seeing more of our DNA and principles, and a way of digging ourselves out of this situation."
Coughlan will have to do without the suspended Sam Glenfield, who received a second yellow card for giving away the penalty which led to the Pat's equaliser.
Derry beat Waterford last time they met in late February, with Michael Duffy to the fore with a trio of goals in a thrilling comeback.
Another victory will be sorely needed from Tiernan Lynch's point of view as the Candystripes boss looks to regain the momentum which they had built in April but has since dissipated.
After beating Shamrock Rovers in the first game of their Celtic Park residency away from the Brandywell, draws against Bohemians and Galway United followed before they slumped to a 1-0 loss at Drogheda last Friday night.
"I felt for the players on Friday night because they pretty much did everything we asked of them as far as performance was concerned," Lynch said of that setback, citing more attacking intent as a goal going forward.
"It's just a matter of we roll our sleeves up, we go again and we try to bounce back."
Veteran striker Liam Boyce has returned to training for Derry.
At the top end of the table, Shamrock Rovers will look to maintain their form as they head to a Dundalk side that have come off the boil slightly.
The Hoops have won three on the trot since losing at Derry on 24 April, scoring eight goals in that span and leaning on their squad depth to good effect.
Stephen Bradley will be counting on that at the back with World Cup-bound Pico Lopes set to focus on a summer adventure with Cape Verde.
"We're in a really strong position in terms of our squad. But either way, regardless of where we were, you've got to respect that he's going to the World Cup and it is a once in a lifetime opportunity for him. We've got to do everything possible to make sure he's right for that," the Hoops manager told shamrockrovers.ie.
They will have Danny Grant back but the veteran forward Rory Gaffney remains sidelined.
Dundalk, meanwhile, have only picked up one point from a possible 12 since their last victory as they hit a sticky patch for the first time this season.
However, Ciarán Kilduff believes the Lilywhites are still in a "good place" this season.
"Of course, in recent weeks, both the group and I have felt a degree of disappointment with the points we've dropped over the last three or four games," he said.
"But if we take a step back and look at the bigger picture, this has been a very competitive and successful return to the Premier Division, and we should take real pride in that."
Defenders Mayowa Animasahun (injury) and Rob Cornwall (suspension) are both unavailable, although forward Eoin Kenny has recovered from a knock.
St Patrick's Athletic are three points adrift of Shamrock Rovers as Shelbourne visit Inchicore for a Dublin derby.
While Richmond Park is an unforgiving place to go, Shels have found away days more to their liking this season.
Indeed, they have the worst home record in the division with no wins at Tolka Park, exacerbated by a frustrating 0-0 draw against Sligo Rovers last week.
One positive at least for Joey O'Brien was a clean sheet, a first in six games. That is timely given Pat's are likely to test their defensive resolve, especially early on, with Stephen Kenny's team being the Premier Division's top scorers with 31 goals.
"There have been 11 goals in the first ten minutes of our games to date," the Saints boss told St Pat's media channel, adding that striker Aidan Keena and goalkeeper Danny Rogers are back in contention.
"So we've been committed all-out to attack. But (the goals) are going in at both ends and we'd rather have the former than the latter."
Meanwhile, Dalymount Park will play host to two teams who have a pep back in their step.
Bohemians had not won in nine games yet had remained third in the table. However, they prevented that winless run from reaching double figures by beating ten-man Dundalk 3-1 at Oriel last week.
"I feel that we had better performances in the run of games where we didn't win, but the most important thing last week was that we found a way to push on and get the three points. We needed to get that monkey off our back," manager Alan Reynolds admitted.
"There's nobody in our dressing room patting themselves on the back after one win - we know that we can and need to be better."
Versatile defender Senan Mullen (hamstring) is ruled out but Bohs do have Jordan Flores (ankle) and Markuss Strods (leg) back.
In the visiting dressing room, Drogheda United have won three of their last four games after a difficult few weeks prior to that.
The heavy defeat at Shamrock Rovers aside on 4 May, a pair clean sheets sandwiched that defeat with crucial 1-0 wins over Sligo Rovers and Derry City.
But they will be without the injured quintet of Scott Brady, Owen Lambe, Ethan O'Brien, Bridel Bosakani and Jason Bucknor.
